Custom Made Hand Splints That We Make For Our Patients in Our Clinics
Our hand therapists are trained, skilled and experienced in fabricating and molding custom made hand splints for our customers.
There are many types of splints offered and some can be customized to suit the condition and the needs of the patient. Going by the location, we can separate splinting into:
- Finger-based splinting
- Hand-based splinting
- Forearm-based splinting
- Elbow splinting
- Shoulder Splinting
Splints can be used to immobilize and to mobilize joints. More details on names and sub-types are provided below:
Finger-based Splinting
- Mallet Splint (For bony or tendinous mallet injuries)
- Anti-swan neck/boutonniere deformity (for chronic tendon injuries and others)
- “Tube” splint (For central slip injures)
- Dorsal blocking splint (For volar-plate injuries)
- Clam-shell splint (Please specify length – typically to manage fractures)
- Finger gutter splints (Please specify length – typically to manage fractures)
- Finger belly gutter splints (Contracture management)
Hand-Based Splinting
- Resting Hand Splint (For stroke and intrinsic-minus hands)
- “Pan” Splint (For patients with chronic scarring/tightness of the fore arm)
- IP-joint blocking splints (To maintain ROM of IP-joints)
- Ulnar-gutter splint (For late-phase TFCC-injuries)
- CMCJ (For osteoarthritis)
Forearm-Based Splinting
- Wrist Splint (Clam-shell for distal radius and ulnar fractures and for support post distal radius ORIF)
- Forearm “Tube” Splint (Fractures of the fore arm)
- Long thumb spica (For De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, scaphoid fractures)
